Uliyin Osai - Tamil Movie Stills
Karunanidhi wrote the story, Saarappallam Chamundi, for the special Pongal issue of DMK journal Murasoli in 1964. The same story was re-published in the Republic Day issue of the journal under the title Uliyin Oasai in the same year.
The Periya Kovil in Thanjavur, built by Raja Raja Chola, provides the backdrop for the story. Legend has it that the king wanted 108 special sculptures to be made in the temple but only 82 could be completed. The story is about why the project remained incomplete.
Poet Ilavenil will write the screenplay and dialogues. Maestro Ilyaraja will compose the music for the film produced by SP Murugesan under the banner of J. Nandini Arts.
