Chennai Kadhal - Tamil Movie Review
Director: Vikraman
Artists: Bharath, Genelia, Radharavi
Times are fast changing and so are the tastes and preferences of film-buffs. The best way to survive in the film industry today is to learn to adapt to the changing scenario. But it is no easy task proves Vikraman.
Known for family sentiments, the director has changed track to come up a commercial potboiler. Unfortunately the end-product lacks finesse and is far from convincing.
Caught between his cliched style of film-making and an urge to deliver a action-packed film, Vikraman looks like a lost ship in deep, choppy sea.
While the first few minutes promises to be a different film, he sticks to his routine as the movie progresses.
Equally disappointing is Joshua Sridhar's musical scores. They seem to be a rehash of a few songs from Vikraman's earlier films.
Bharath, on the rise playing some sensible roles in his recent films, has had an average outing. He flies around and flexes his muscles reminding one of Matrix. Unfortunately, it doesn't sit well on the actor. Genelia tries to bring some life with her bubbly performance. She looks gorgeous and shares a good on-screen chemistry with Bharath. But Vikraman has failed to take advantage of it.
There is nothing new about the story. Bharath (Gowtham), a callous, carefree youth, falls in love with Narmada ( Genelia). Her father Sakthivel (Radharavi), a dreaded don in Chennai, plays spoilsport on their romance. Finally the hero triumphs after bloodsheds and fisticuffs.
An amateurish screenplay with a predictable sequence of events spoils the party.
