Movie Review: Udamabu Eppadi Irukku Director: Jeevita Rajasekhar
Cast: Dr Rajasekhar, Samvrutha, Raghuvaran, Kalabhavan Mani, Bhanuchander, Mumaith Khan
Genre: Action
Rajasekhar has an affinity for roles where he gets to play the messiah of the oppressed and downtrodden. And the role of Major Surya who returns home, sees the rampant political corruption around him and sets out to cleanse the system, is an ideal one for him. And the actor enacts it with flair.
Surya's fight against corrupt elements begins at home. His father, the education minister, and his two brothers-in-law, who hold high positions of power, are amassing wealth at the cost of the tax-payers. The coterie includes a former MP (Kalabhavan Mani who provides some laughs) and the Governor.
Surya decides to take them on by joining the system. He fights the elecetion as an Independent, wrangles the Home portfolio for himself, and plays the destroyer of the corrupt elements.
Item number girl Mumaith Khan, apart from a sizzling dance number, also gets to perform as the gutsy cop, which she does with flair. The film is the remake of a Malayalam film (Lion), but Rajasekhar has re-structured it in Telugu to suit his image. And now the film, after a good run in Andhra, has been dubbed and partly re-shot in Tamil.
Its racy narration, the adrenalin-flowing action scenes, and the fiery lines keep you engaged without a boring moment.
