Movie Review: Pidichirukku

Pidichirukku is a simple, realistic and eventful love story executed well by the debutant Kanagu, a former assistant of Director Lingusamy.

Vel (Ashok) is a Hindu young boy, who runs a small Lorry booking office in Tuticorin town. Manju is a Roman Catholic girl studying in a local college. The first meeting of both Vel and Manju is an accident caused due to Manju's negligence. When she is sitting in her father's (Sampath Raj) scooter as a pillion rider, her assignment papers and duppatta flies off and lands on the face of Vel. He suddenly loses his balance and it causes for the collapse of Vel with bruises. He shouts at the girl and her father without knowing that he is the new customs officer of that area, whom he has to often interact due to his business.

After this accident, Manju develops a soft corner for him and watching regularly just because his office is lying on the way to her college. But as always after the initial spats and quibbles, both Vel and Manju are deeply drawn towards each other.

One day while both are romancing in a moving empty lorry (it is an idea of Vel to avoid any disturbances from his colleagues!), they are intercepted by Manju's father. As usually, Manu is beaten by her father, but her mother saves her. On the very next moment, Manju's father instructs her not to go to college. After a few days, Vel drinks and goes to Manju's house along with other lorry drivers in the mid night to ask Manju for him. The situation becomes worst and Manju's father quits his job and vacates his house also. When Vel tries to contact Manju, all his routes are blocked. One day a Sikh lorry driver, one of his close customers tells Vel that he has seen Manju near Pune. Immediately, Vel goes to Pune along with Kanja Karuppu to find Manju and undergoes real tough times. Finally, they find Manju but she does not respond well to them. How he convinces and gets Manju is the remaining of the story. The climax is the portion that most of the viewers comments with using the title of the film (Pidichirukku – which means 'I like it'). Almost Saranya, the veteran actress steals the show at the end of the film with her bold and sensible performance.

The first half of the film should be more eventful and in the second half the editor may trim few scenes to make this film as crispy.

For Ashok it is his second film. He has done a good job but he must improve in some areas. Visaka is looking homely and looking to deliver the emotions rightfully. But she is not an opt actress in glamour based roles. Kanja Karuppu almost comes along the hero in all the scenes and in fact he saves the film a lot. His realistic comedy also comes to the rescue of viewers in many scenes.

Manu Rameshan's music is not catchy. The camera work is very good and nicely exposed the other colour of Pune. Anyhow, Kanagu proves himself as a promising new comer through this simple and decent show.

Verdict: Watchable!

sorry to inform you that i unable to unzip Part2 file, i had tryed to downloaded by both sites and always got error while unzip, please inform me how to fix it?
