Actress Sangeetha is one who takes her roles very seriously. She puts in a lot of efforts preparing for her roles, and pays great attention even to the most minute details of the characters that she plays on the screen.
She worked hard to make the vixenish drug dealer of Pithamagan look realistic on screen. She worked with psychiatrists to learn more about the people who are compulsively possessive, like the character that she portrayed in Uyir. She has no hesitation playing controversial characters that have artistic value.
Though money is important, the satisfaction that she gets from doing good and memorable roles is what drives her. Only this satisfaction can feed the artist in her. She selects subjects based on merit and the scope they offer to showcase her acting skills.
That is the reason she is seen only in a film or two per year. At present, she is working in Telugu movies Indrajit and Kanagam, which have subjects giving more importance to the female lead of the movie.
Her penchant for being in female-centric films or films that carry scope for her to display her acting skills cannot be construed as feminism. She only wants to be recognized as an actress rather than the usual tear-jerking heroines of Kollywood.
Trends are changing these days and the scope for actresses like Sangeetha is growing.
