Oscar Academy invites Rahman

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the trade mark owner of most prestigious Oscar Awards, has extended an invitation to our AR Rahman to join the organisation. The entire technical team of Slumdog Millionaire, including director Danny Boyle, cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle, editor Chris Dickens and producer Christian Colson, are among the 134 eminent personalities who have been extended the invitation this year.

Other notable names include actors Hugh Jackman, Seth Rogen, James Franco, actress Anne Hathaway and musician Peter Gabriel. In a press release issued by the Oscar Academy, its president Sid Ganis said, “It’s this kind of talent and creativity that makes up the Academy, and I welcome each of them to our ranks”. And, Rahman duly acknowledged the invitation on his blogging page. “Thanks the Academy for the invitation to membership.”
